The visual representation of the panel sawin the manuals may seem little confusing when it is placed in the real time environment, In the industry the production engineer has started to cut the board, and then tried to flip one of its rear sides where he observed the gap between the cut and the uncut edge, the error gets broader and broader with the board width. So how to rectify the error and adjust the device? There are few simple methods like reference square where the 90 degree reference should be kept while cutting. Another excellent method of cutting is the 5-cut method where a special formula is used which can the error ratio per inch so that every single cut can be done with precision. When you are trying to apply this method, start with the four side panel which has long side that can fit easily into the sled fences. The pencil marking acts as a good indicator to mark which edge has to be cut first. Once the marking is done turn the edges facing towards the fence and make the subsequent second, third, fourth and fifth cuts in the order.

Adjusting The Fence In The Panel Saw Operations

Refer the typical sleds of the panel saw where you can see a defined algorithm is required to adjust the fence during the cutting operations in the industry. Place the block pointing towards the fence and if the block is too far, then the adjustment points have to be clamped to sled the platform. A feeler gauge of required thickness determined by the mathematical formulas is left between the fence and the block. The crosscut sled is supported by a platform, plywood, fences and two runners that can fit compactly with the saw top.

Say suppose the panel measures 24 by 12 and we will initiate the 5-cut method to get error free precision. After the fifth cut, the strip should efficiently measure .585 at X and .562 at Y. The height of the cut should be ideally measuring 23 ¾.  Now you calculate the error ratio with the (a-b) 4/L the error may reflect to only 0.0005 extents. So for every cut if you place the panel with deliberate fence measurements the error ratio can almost be avoided completely. The feeler gauge can also be used for further assistance of adjustment points near the fence.

Most of the cutting materials used in the vertical panel saw have four straight edges so they tend to make four angles which may sum up to 360 degrees. The four sided figures are preferably square or a rectangle which many exactly click to 90 degrees. So before the cutting operation starts the production engineers check whether the angle is inclined to 90 degrees and if possible create a square corner by proper filing. Shooting boards, miter saws, Miter gauges, a square are some of the materials that do not necessarily form a square corner though they resemble the shape of a square material.

I’ve had this panel saw for about 2 years, after several years and I can say with certainty that the Sawtrax is the better panel saw. It’s a little more powerful than other one – not enough to matter in everyday woodshop use, but the power difference is noticeable that panel saw can easily cut thick hardwood. And now I realized that about reliability good product best value for money go for it……..I’ve had this panel saw for about 2 years, after several years and I can say with certainty that the Sawtrax is the better panel saw.
